The Afrikaners in Argentina
The Afrikaners in Argentina refer to the approximately 600 Afrikaners who emigrated to Argentina from South Africa between 1902 and 1907 . In 1907 a municipality of Kolonia Boera was established and Chebut in 1912. More groups arrived in Patagonia in 1907 , mostly from the Transvaal and the Orange Free State. Settlers focused on sheep farming, building roads, domesticating untamed areas, and growing produce such as oats, barley, and alfalfa. They taught their children their habits, culture and language. Even today, many of their descendants still speak Afrikaans. In May 1954 Congregation Chebut called a minister, Rev. Boonstra an Argentine, the language of this congregation would therefore now be Spanish. The Reformed Churches in Argintiniê are known as the Ingles Reformadas en la Argintinia.
